Three Different Ways to Recycle a Gas Lawn Mower

!±8± Three Different Ways to Recycle a Gas Lawn Mower

So you just realized today that your gas-powered lawn mower is a decade plus a year! Sure, you do share all those wonderful mowing memories together but as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Apparently, your old lawn mower is gradually running more slowly and ends up sitting in the basement more days than it spends out mowing in the lawn like it was made to do. Now that it is not used as much as it used to be, what in the world should you do with it?

It could just be given away. Or perhaps pay someone to haul it off to the dump. But there are better ideas. Why not consider gas lawn mower recycling options and save quite a few dollars on buying a new one? Or better yet, get quite a bit of money back into your pocket by selling it. Sounds interesting, doesn't it?

There are three different recycling options for these lawn care machines:

1. Find out where the nearest junk yard or salvage yard is located near your location. Call them to find out if they will purchase the mower for scrap metal and how much they will pay you for it. Then take the mower to them and get paid for getting rid of it.

2. The second way to recycle this unused piece of lawn equipment is to hire someone to repair it. Almost every neighborhood has a person who likes to tinker with old items and various types of machinery. Call them to find out if they are interested in fixing it and then you will be able to use it again for several years to come.

3. If you are not really thinking of making money from that old thing, this third recycling option is just for you. Ask a local nonprofit institution (Religious groups, Orphanages, Animal Shelters) near you if they could use an old lawn mower. This way you will be able to get rid of the old mower, but also help some other people be able to properly maintain their yard.

After you have made up your mind what you want to do with the old mower, perhaps you can think about purchasing one that is battery powered. Or perhaps you would prefer an electric model. Gas models are known to release a lot of exhaust into the air. This can add to environmental issues and its contribution to summertime ozone can be a problem. By responsibly recycling this piece of equipment you can make some money and help the environment. You can start today!

Yard Clean Up - An Electric Leaf Blower Makes it Fast and Easy

!±8± Yard Clean Up - An Electric Leaf Blower Makes it Fast and Easy

Bet you're looking forward to spring, warm weather and entertaining in your home. But, maybe you're front lawn and backyard doesn't look so inviting. Winter leaves behind dead leaves, twigs and those spring berries can start to fall fast. If yard clean up's got you down, consider buying an electric leaf blower to make your life easier. An electric blower can make yard clean up in a small or large space more efficient, less time consuming and less frustrating. They come with powerful fans that blow leaves and debris into piles you (or the kids) can quickly remove. And many also have vacuums and bags you can attach to the blower.

The vacuum and bags simplifies yard clean up even more. Simply suck up the debris with a blower and you can quickly dispose of the leaves in eco-friendly yard bags. Some leaf blowers also have mulcher to turn those leaves and debris into mulch you can use to beautify your flowerbeds or nourish your vegetable garden. Electric blowers come with or without a cord. Cordless models are better for bigger areas because you're not restricted by the length of the cord. Most of them can be easily recharged from a socket in your home, and they're light and easily portable.

If you find you can't bear the weight of carrying around a leaf blower in your large yard, you can always choose a backpack electric leaf blower. Just slip it over your shoulders and you're ready to make your yard clean up nice and easy. Blowers with cords can make yard clean up in a tight area much quicker and easier than using a rake. Keep in mind, though, that if the cord is long, the leaf blower will be less powerful.

Many people find electric blowers are great for yard clean up. But, the noise level these machines create isn't so appealing. Remember, however, that as far as noise goes, electric blowers are much easier on your ears than gas leaf blowers. However, manufacturers and health professionals recommend wearing hearing protection when you use an electric leaf blower. Also, you may not be worried just about the messy leaves and debris below - on your lawn or in your backyard. Sometimes, it's the leaves and other waste that clog up your gutters or eaves troughs. You can also use your blower to clear away this mess during your yard clean up. Keeping your gutters clear helps to protect your home's exterior - and it's environmentally friendly.

Another benefit that electric blowers provide for homeowners is that they're low maintenance, unlike gas leaf blowers. The most you may need to do to your electric blower is clean out the tube on occasion to remove residue, and clean the brushes once in a while. To keep it working smoothly make sure you use a cord with the right voltage. If you are looking to save time and keep your yard looking spectacular consider investing in an electric leaf blower.
